LUKOIL was formed in 1991 as a state concern, which combined three oil producers (Langepasneftegaz, Uraineftegaz, and Kogalymneftegaz) and two oil refineries (Permnefteorgsyntez and Volgograd Refinery). Today, LUKOIL is the leading vertically integrated oil company in Russia. The company’s main activities are oil and gas exploration and extraction, as well as refining and selling petroleum products. LUKOIL is the second largest private oil company worldwide by proven hydrocarbon reserves. LUKOIL is implementing oil & gas exploration and production projects in 13 countries. Most activity is concentrated in four federal districts of the Russian Federation: the North-West, the Volga, the Urals and the South. LUKOIL currently produces a wide range of high-quality petroleum and gas products and petrochemicals, selling them via wholesale and retail in over 30 countries. The Company has oil refineries in 6 countries (including share in the ISAB refinery complex and Zeeland Refinery). The Company owns 4 oil refineries and 2 mini-refineries in Russia, as well as 4 gas-processing plants. The Company's Russian assets also include 2 petrochemical plants. LUKOIL’s new business sector, Power Generation, was created in 2008 as part of the Group’s Strategic Development Program, and the sector has a special role to play in the Group’s updated Strategy for 2012–2021. Power Generation will be an important factor for growth of cash flow and shareholder value in the long term. The business comprises all aspects of power generation, including delivery and marketing of electrical energy and of heat produced at power plants. The nucleus of the segment is the Russian power generating company, UGK TGK-8, which was acquired by LUKOIL in 2008, but it also includes companies producing electricity and heat in Bulgaria, Romania, and Ukraine. In August 2011 In Baghdad, LUKOIL was signed Supplement Agreement to the contract on development and production of oil at West Qurna-2 field. In June 2012 LUKOIL has acquired a 65% stake in the exploration, development and production project on block CI-504 offshore the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire in the Gulf of Guinea. The company has ratings by Standard & Poor's (BBB-), Fitch Rating (BBB-) and Moody’s Investors Service (Ba1). |
