Rosseti Volga

Samara Grids power engineers take care of the environment

On June 5, World Environment Day is celebrated worldwide. The holiday established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 is designed to draw the attention of the world community to environmental problems.

Power engineers of the Samara Grids branch of Rosseti Volga (a brand of IDGC of Volga, PJSC) contribute to environmental protection. All activities are carried out within the framework of the approved Program for the implementation of the environmental policy of the branch, aimed at reducing the negative impact on the environment.

Constant laboratory and analytical control is carried out at production facilities, oil-filled equipment is being changed to more environmentally friendly, energy-efficient and safe, overhead power transmission lines and open substation switchgears are equipped with bird protection devices, the bare wire is changed to self-insulated wire, and transformer oil is regenerated for its reuse.

Much attention in the Samara Grids branch is paid to the training of personnel who are allowed to collect, transport, process, dispose, neutralize, and dumping of waste of hazard classes I–IV.

In addition to the main activities aimed at implementing environmental policy, the branch implements actions and programs for reforestation – annually, about 5,000 seedlings and rooters are planted by power engineers in different regions of the region, in the places of former burners or wastelands. The environmental management system implemented at the branch is certified according to the international standard ISO 14001 (GOST R ISO 14001-2016), which indicates the effectiveness of the company's management policy in the field of environmental protection.
