Power engineers of the Samara Distribution Grids Branch of Rosseti Volga (a brand of IDGC of Volga, PJSC) have begun clearing cuts in the protected areas of overhead power lines in preparation for the autumn-winter period of 2020–2021.
“The Rosseti Group must 100% and on time exactly implement the entire set of measures to ensure reliable and high-quality power supply to consumers this winter,” said Pavel Livinsky, General Director of Rosseti, PJSC during a meeting of the headquarters of the electric grid complex on minimizing the risks of coronavirus distribution infections. In 2020, the Samara power engineers will clear over 1,200 hectares of glades of power lines. Clearing of routes is one of the important areas of the repair program that allows minimizing the number of power line damages caused by weather conditions.
4The work is carried out in order to exclude the fall of trees on wires, eliminate fires under overhead lines and ensure the safe operation of linear power facilities. The width of the glades for power lines is determined in strict accordance with the size of the protected zones of overhead power lines, provided for by the “Rules for establishing protection zones of power grid facilities and special conditions for the use of lands located within the boundaries of such zones.
The main work will be carried out on overhead power transmission lines of 35–110 kV. For safe performance of the work, the personnel involved are fully equipped with all necessary protective equipment. Mechanical cleaning is carried out using a mulcher and a harvester. Thanks to modern technology, work is performed quickly and highly efficiently.
