Power engineers of the Chuvashenergo branch of Rosseti Volga (a brand of IDGC of Volga, PJSC) continue to work on the installation of smart metering devices. By the end of this year, it is planned to install more than 29 thousand "smart" meters for consumers in Chuvashia. They will be installed for residents of individual houses and enterprises in the region at the expense of the company's investment program, and within the framework of energy service contracts.
"Smart" meters will allow receiving information about electricity consumption remotely, free the consumer from the routine work of transmitting readings to the electricity supplier, and protect against unintentional or deliberate distortion of readings. Power engineers will be able to quickly receive data on outages and other deviations in the quality of services, effectively carry out measures to prevent theft and identify the centers of losses.
Last year, within the framework of the Program for the Development of Smart Metering of Electricity, the Chuvashenergo branch installed more than 11.6 thousand smart meters, which made it possible to reduce commercial losses and increase the effective supply of electricity by more than 2 million rubles. This year, work on equipping with smart metering devices continues.
On July 1, 2020, the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated April 18, 2020 No. 554 "On amendments to some acts of the Government of the Russian Federation on the improvement of the organization of electricity metering" came into force. The document regulates the phased replacement of old metering devices in Russian homes with new ones. The purchase and replacement of meters are free of charge for the consumer – by law, these costs are borne by energy companies. Until January 1, 2022, companies can choose whether it will be a “simple” metering device or a “smart” meter.
From January 1, 2022, only smart metering devices are subject to installation.
