Lenta opens two new supermarkets in Saint-Petersburg

St. Petersburg, Russia; 22 June 2020 – Lenta, (LSE, MOEX: LNTA) one of the largest retail chains in Russia, is pleased to announce the opening of its two new supermarkets in Saint-Petersburg.

The first store is a Lenta supermarket located in at 6 Mikhaila Dudina street. The store has a total area of 1,605 sq.m with 982 sq.m of selling space. The store has 100 parking spaces and 9 cash registers. The store is opened 24 hours 7 days a week.

The second supermarket is located at 25 Dunaisky avenuå. The store has a total area of 1,597 sq.m with 1,079 sq.m of selling space. The store has 80 parking spaces and 9 cash registers. The store is opened from 8.00 am to 11 pm seven days a week.

Both stores offer a broad product range of 9,500 and 10,000 SKUs, which has been selected specifically for residents of Saint-Petersburg and includes Lenta’s private labels and federal product ranges alongside local produce. The properties are leased by Lenta.

The supermarkets are two of twelve stores previously operated by SPAR. Lenta reconstructed premises to meet different clients’ needs and fulfill various customer journeys. The layout design of both stores is made to promote fresh fruits and berries as well as healthy food. New equipment allows making shopping more convenient and ensuring perfect representation of food.

Lenta undertook explicit measures to ensure safe environment for its customers and employees during the pandemic of coronavirus. All Lenta stores are equipped with sanitizing stations and protective screens at checkouts and own production areas to minimize health related risks. The personnel is provided with high quality respirators and gloves and goes through body temperature control procedure daily. All the equipment and premises are cleaned with disinfectants several times a day.

Lenta is committed to expand its supermarket business. In 2019, the Board of Directors approved capex of 1.9bn Roubles to open 29 supermarkets in Moscow during 2020-2021 with total selling space of approximately 24,000sq.m. within the contract with the ADG real estate development group. The company also leased twelve ex-SPAR premises in Saint-Petersburg that are located in proper catchment areas and meet the high standards of Lenta.

The new openings in Saint-Petersburg are Lenta’s first and second supermarket launches in 2020 and bring the total number of Lenta stores to 248 hypermarkets in 88 cities across Russia and 133 supermarkets in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Siberia, the Urals and the Central region.
