At NLMK Lipetsk, start-up is underway at a new facility for the production of steel products, a continuous casting machine (CCM-9).
The productivity of CCM-9 is 1.8 million tonnes of steel per year. The company plans to use the equipment to master the production of a premium mix of products that will be used to make wind turbine parts, marine vessels, oil drilling rigs, and large-diameter pipes. These products will be supplied both to the Russian and international markets.
The CCM-9 construction project was implemented over the course of 14 months, with up to 700 NLMK and contractor employees working on the project during peak periods. Over 5,000 tonnes of equipment and steel structures were assembled for the project.
Total investment exceeded RUB 12 billion.
