RusHydro was included in Group 1 “high level” of the First ESG
Index prepared by RBC and National Credit Ratings agency. A total of
115 enterprises from the key industries of the Russian economy were
included in the index, and only two other power companies received
the maximum score.
RusHydro, the largest hydropower company in
Russia, aims at achieving high standards in sustainable development
in the country. Most electricity is generated by the Group using
water, which is a renewable resource. The target indicators of the
Group’s Environmental Policy include increasing the installed
capacity of low-carbon generation, reducing direct and normalized
greenhouse gas emissions, preventing extinction of various animals
and plant species, etc. The Group plans to reduce GHG emissions by
over 6% by 2025 as compared to 2015. Normalized carbon emissions
associated with electric power generation will decrease by 7.7%, and
normalized emission associated with heat supply will be reduced by
6.4%.
The company is among the 100 largest Russian
companies with stable dividend payments. In 2021, RusHydro paid 23.3
billion rubles to its shareholder, which is at the level of the
previous year when the Company paid record dividends in its entire
history.
