Moscow, 14 April 2005. Tomorrow, the delegation of RAO "UES of Russia" headed by the Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" Anatoly Chubais flies to the Republic of Tajikistan to take part in the ceremony to start the construction of Sangtuda HPP-1.

Sangtuda HPP-1, which has 670 MW design capacity, is located on the Vakhsh River 200 km south of the city of Dushanbe. The construction of Sangtuda HPP-1 started back in the late 1980s, but was suspended soon afterwards due to the lack of funds. The agreement to complete the construction of Sangtuda HPP-1 was signed by Russia and Tajikistan in January 2005.
