MMK was one of three Russian companies included in the Sustainability
Yearbook 2022, a ranking of global companies that have achieved
outstanding results in sustainable development, compiled by the
respected international rating agency S&P Global.
S&P Global's independent experts assessed the
performance of more than 7,500 companies around the world based on
sustainability reports and other documents published between April
2021 and January 2022. MMK was the only Russian ferrous metallurgy
company to feature in the final rating, ranking among the world's top
11 steel companies.
In compiling the rating, experts took into account
environmental, social policy and corporate governance performance,
paying particular attention to the quality of corporate non-financial
reporting. S&P Global also noted that an important factor in the
assessment was safety in the workplace, both for employees and
contractors.
MMK adheres to the principles of sustainable
development in all aspects of its operations. The Company
consistently reduces its carbon footprint and emissions, helps
develop the region where it operates and ensures the social
well-being of its residents, and guarantees the transparency and
accountability of its corporate governance. In addition, MMK
regularly publishes as much information as possible about its work,
including information about the Company’s sustainable development,
in documents such as annual reports as well as the ESG Data Pack,
which can be easily found on MMK's website.
"It is a great honour for us to be included
among the world's best steel companies in the Sustainability Yearbook
rating," commented Sergey Nenashev, MMK's Director for Strategy
and Development. "MMK does a lot to ensure environmentally
friendly production, transparency of corporate governance and social
support for employees and residents of the places where we operate.
We will continue to improve our practices in all these areas, and we
hope to uphold our strong performance in both national and
international ratings."
