Aport hits its stride

MOSCOW, Russia (October 3, 2005)– Golden Telecom, Inc. (NASDAQ: GLDN), reports that the Russian Internet provider ROL™, through its leading Internet search engine, Aport™ (https://www.aport.ru),  has significantly broadened and updated its server base.

ROL has purchased state-of-the-art Dell PowerEdge 2850 servers.  The servers are configured with search engine features that will perform searches within indexed pages and provide prompt delivery of found search results to the Aport Internet users.  Since the new processing power was added, the volume of information indexed by Aport has doubled, and the number of pages indexed on every Web site has grown significantly.  Additionally, the system has become more powerful in terms of the number of search queries it can process simultaneously.

Throughout this upgrade process, Aport has retained its proprietary and distinctive approach towards retrieval tasks on the Internet.  Focus is given to processing high quality search queries rather than merely increasing the volume of the databases searched.  Additionally, a new and more efficient spam-filtering system was developed to protect users from various types of Internet spam and unwanted pop-ups.  Overall, Aport expects to see significant growth in the number of users utilizing the improved search engine capabilities.
