With the support of JSC RusHydro, on 3 April, 2008, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, held, within the framework of the 3C international business initiative, a Round Table on climate change problems.
The event moderator was Chairman of the Management Board of JSC RusHydro Vyacheslav Sinyugin. The supervisor of the Initiative, Dr. Josefsson, presented the Roadmap, which is the central 3C document. The Roadmap contains recommendations on priority economic policy measures geared to development of market methods for resolving climate change problems and promoting creation of a stable economy with low emission levels. These recommendations were elaborated on the basis of the 3C founding declaration during a six-month period of open consultations with many companies participating in the Initiative and were based on thorough analysis of the possibilities for cutting emissions within the scope of the global economy.
The discussion of the Roadmap involved the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden in Russia Johan Mulander, the Senior Executive Vice-President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Murychev, supervisor in the sphere of investment projects of the company SUN/India Vyacheslav Barabash, head of the department for environmental protection of JSC Lukoil Viktor Zagvozdkin, head of the environmental department of JSC Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompania Elena Podgornykh, Director for climate policy and strategy of ÑÀÌÑÎ International/United Kingdom Mikhail Yulkin and other specialists.
The discussion demonstrated a broad range of opinions on the problem of climate change. In summing up, Vyacheslav Sinyugin noted: “In order to resolve the already evident environmental problems, the business community must come together. JSC RusHydro will take an active part in developing effective and fair global solutions.”
