Russia. RusHydro Group (ticker symbol: MOEX, LSE: HYDR; OTCQX:
RSHYY) announces that on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum
it has signed a letter of commitment addressed to the UN Secretary
General in support of the United Nations Global Compact, the most
prominent UN sustainable development initiative for business, and the
ten principles of the Global Compact with respect to human rights,
labour, environment and anti-corruption.
The Russian Global Compact Network (acting as the
Association “National Network of the Participants to the Global
Compact for the Implementing the Principles of Responsible Business
in Corporate Practice”) led by Vnesheconombank since 2013, promoted
the decision and helped forward preparation of letter of commitment
by RusHydro. The public confirmation of its commitments via the
letter addressed to the UN Secretary General is considered to be the
key milestone of joining the Global Compact.
In accordance with
the Global Compact RusHydro undertakes to uphold both the principles
of the UN Global Compact, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development. RusHydro will also submit the annual Communication on
Progress in the form of corporate social responsibility report
prepared in accordance with GRI standards, containing the statement
by the Chairman of the Management Board - General Director,
expressing continued support for the Global Compact principles.
