On August 1, 2008 OJSC Volga Territorial Generation Company celebrates its third anniversary. The power company was founded on August 1, 2005 within the frames of Samara, Saratov, Ulyanovsk and Orenburg power systems reformation project. Volga TGC has combined generation and thermal grid assets of Samaraenergo, Saratovenergo and Ulyanovskenergo with further contribution of 100% of Orenburg ΕΟΡ shares in its authorized capital. The Company has incorporated 21 power plants of total capacity of 6 879,7 MW in electric power and 30 687,2 Gcal in thermal power and has become the second largest TGC in Russia in term of installed capacity.
Currently Volga TGC is the basic heat and light supplier to nearly 5 million inhabitants and industrial enterprises of 11 largest cities of Samara, Saratov, Ulyanovsk and Orenburg regions. Since the company foundation its power plants and boiler houses have generated over 65 mln kWh of electric power and 122 thousand Gcal of thermal power.
The company is actively implementing strategy of municipal thermal grid assets integration in all towns of its presence. Over 530 km of local thermal grids (two-pipe) and 180 Central Heating Centers in Togliatti, Novokuibushevsk, Saratov and Balakovo as well as 177 boiler houses in Saratov have already been placed in Volga TGC management. OJSC Orenburg TGC that is in the area of responsibility of Volga TGC, manages over 520 km of thermal grids (two-pipe), 139 Central Heating Centers and 75 municipal boiler-houses in Orenburg and Mednogorsk. Total length of inhouse and leased thermal grids is 1965 km.
