Power suppliers of Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids Branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti) renew the equipment at key power facilities of the region. In addition to full-scale reconstructions of power grid facilities within the framework of the investment program, branch employees conduct point-to-point replacement of individual electrical equipment.

For example, power suppliers are replacing 35 kV voltage transformers at large 110 kV substations: Sviyaga, Bolshoye Nogatkino, Pribrezhnaya, Veshkayma, Koptevka-Tyagovaya. At another four substations, 12 current transformers necessary to account for the transmitted electricity have been installed. An important role in improving the reliability of large power facilities plays the replacement of surge arresters with surge suppressors designed to protect power supply equipment from switching and lightning overvoltages. 32 units of equipment have already been installed at eight substations.

 Excess-voltage suppressor in contrast to arresters have an unlimited number of actuations, due to which they are characterized by high wear resistance and reliability. In order to improve the quality of dispatching communication, data transmission of automated systems, organization of work of relay protection and automation systems at high-voltage substations of the Ulyanovsk DG branch, they replace communication capacitors i.e. interconnection devices designed to transmit the high-frequency signal from the transmitter to power lines and from power lines to the receiver. Also in 2018, 40 power transformers at a transformer substation of 0.6-10 kV for TMG type transformers are to be replaced. New transformers have a leak proof design, which eliminates the contact of transformer oil with the environment, and, consequently, its oxidation and moistening.

Transformer oil does not change its properties during the entire service life of the equipment, retains the high electrical strength of the insulation of transformers, thereby greatly simplifying the process of their operation and maintenance. In addition, the safety of the facility is improved, as for the localization of the consequences of accidents related to transformer damage, the tanks of TMG series transformers are equipped with special safety devices that are triggered by a sharp increase in overpressure. Replacement of single equipment will improve the reliability of more than 20 high-voltage substations and 40 transformer substations throughout the region, improve the system of transmitted electricity metering, as well as improve the quality of information transmission, including the state of electrical equipment, operating modes and technological violations in the networks.
