Specialists of Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies), completed repair activities at Vostochnaya substation that provides electricity for consumers of the Zavolzhskiy district of Ulyanovsk. While preparing substations for peak-load operations, power engineers repaired 8 circuit breakers and 33 disconnecting switches rated for 110 kV, replaced pedestal-type (pin and cap) insulators, contact systems and power equipment connections. Repair operations for two power transformers included painting, replacement of silicone gel replaced in dehydrating filter breathers, and refit of oil receiving devices. High-voltage fencing for 110 kV Vostochnaya – 3,4 and Zavolzhskaya – 1,2 is equipped with V-shaped insulator strings. These protection elements will help significantly reduce the risk of damage to the equipment due to mechanical connections wear and tear caused by wind loads. Besides, maintenance specialists painted metal structures, re-applied signage and warning signs, replaced outdoor lighting fixtures and repaired substation perimeter fencing. Cost of capital repair works at Vostochnaya substation amounted to about 1.5 million rubles. Successful implementation of all scheduled activities is a key factor for ensuring reliable power supply for residents and a number of socially significant businesses and infrastructure facilities of the Zavolzhskiy district in Ulyanovsk. This year, Vostochnaya substation participates in the review contest held at IDGC of Volga, PJSC. The purpose of this contest is to assess technical and aesthetical condition of substations rated for 35 kV and above.
