Specialists of Penzaenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies) commenced the final operations of the 1st stage of reconstruction of Sursk 110/35/10 kV substation to re-lay certain overhead transmission lines from the old substation to a new one. The contracted works will be held at seven 110 kV lines and three 10 kV lines. These lines include transit lines feeding railway transformer substations, and 10 kV feeders transmitting electricity to communities in Gorodishchenskiy district in the Penza region. As part of re-laying operations, specialists will test the transmission lines by applying operating voltages and perform functional testing of all relay protection and automatic equipment at the new substation. After testing, overhead transmission lines will be put into operation. All re-laying operations are expected to be over in the second half of September. The objective of Sursk substation reconstruction project is to improve reliability of power supply for Gorodischenskiy district of the Penza region, transformer substations operated by Russian Railways, and electricity transit via 110 kV Klyuchiki-Kuznetsk-Sursk-CHP-1-Penza-1 OHL. Necessitated by depreciation of the substation equipment, this reconstruction project will provide new opportunities of connecting individual households and industrial facilities to the electrical networks. Renovated Sursk substation is equipped with two 16000 110/35/10 kV TDTN type transformers, eleven 110 kV SF6 circuit breakers, forty-one 110 kV disconnecting switches, and a newly built building for 10 kV metal clad switchgear. The reconstruction project at Sursk substation is implemented as part of Penzaenergo investment program.
