Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids, branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC installed metering station to help control and lower losses of energy during transportation from the grid company to the consumer as part of the energy metering system development program. The equipment prevents unauthorized access to metering devices and therefore prevents possible misappropriations. The cutting-edge equipment provides exact measuring, which helps control energy spending effectively. All the metering stations include the automated data transfer units. Information on the quantity and quality of energy delivered to consumers is communicated in real time to data collections centers. Any customer can request his or her data collection center to obtain detailed information on the amount of energy consumed. The long-term electrical energy accounting program is due to be completed in 2050, when the grid will have incorporated over 1,500 metering points. Ulyanovsk power engineers began the program in 2008 by choosing a project proposal and selecting locations for the first metering stations. This year the grid spent RUR 12 mln on the equipment. Before 2010 some 40 metering stations will be installed throughout the city of Ulyanovsk and its environs.
