On December 21 an EGM of OJSC Elektrosvyaz, Novosibirsk was held in Novosibirsk at which a motion was passed to merge 10 companies into the Siberian mega-regional telecom concern. As it turned out, 99.46% of the shareholders in attendance voted for the merger. The shareholders also passed a motion to approve the various merger agreements.
EGMs were held from December 10 - 19, 2001 at all companies that are to be merged to OJSC Elektrosvyaz, Novosibirsk Region. The table below illustrates the outcome of the voting:

Members of the board of directors of OJSC Elektrosvyaz, Novosibirsk Region were in attendance at the meetings, as well as people from Alfa Bank, the financial consultant for this mega-regional merger. Thus the first step towards forming a single operator in the Siberian federal district is complete. By voting in favor of the merger, shareholders in the core and merging companies expressed their firm intention to proceed with the creation of a unified company, and expressed their confidence in the outlook for its development.
