All the operators slated to take part in the OJSC North-Western Telecom merger were represented today at stands of the 9th international telecommunications Norwaycom exhibition.
Speaking at a press conference at the official opening of the exhibition, the general directors of LJSC North-Western Telecom S.V. Soldatenkov pointed out:
"The market cap of the merged will be more than $US 300 mn with over 3.5 mn customers and a staff nearly 35,000 strong. Top managers from all the operators will be attending the exhibition, so all those who come can ask any questions they'd like.
Nowadays we have a lot of interesting projects, especially HomePNA. Home Phoneline Networking Alliance, which involves new technology which converts standard subscribers' telephone lines into high-speed Internet access lines, allowing simultaneous transmission of data and voice (telephone calls)."
The majority of the North-Western Telecom exposition located on the 2nd floor of the 4th pavilion, will acquaint visitors with services provided by a branch of the Petersburg Telephone Network.
Tomorrow, on February 27 from 11 o'clock to 12 o'clock the North-Western Telecom stand will deliver a video health care presentation attended by the vice general director of the medical statistics office and manager of the working group for video health care services under the Health Committee of the St. Petersburg Administration E. Useinov, and the vice general of First Aid O. Dmitrenko. During the presentation first video clips made jointly by the Scientific Research Institute of First Aid and the St. Petersburg Center for Telecommunications, will be on display.
On Thursday February 28th from 1 - 2 o'clock p.m. the Russian Foundation for the History of Telecommunications is scheduled to deliver a presentation. From February 28 - March 2 there will be an IP telephony presentation with prizes offered to those who purchase plastic calling cards.
