Elektrosvyaz Republic of Buryatia - a branch of OJSC Sibirtelecom: release Q3 2002 results

On November 30, 2002 the merger was completed for telecom operators in the Federal District of Siberia.  As of December 1, 2002 OJSC Elektrosvyaz Republic of Buryatia became a branch of OJSC Sibirtelecom. 

Based on the results of its financial and business activity for Q3 2002 the company generated RUR 401.9 million in gross revenue, while sales revenue stood at RUR 100.3 million.  This represents a 3.1% growth compared to the same period last year for gross revenue, and a 54.5% growth for sales revenue. In addition, net profit posted a 5.5% increase and reached RUR 21.5 million.

Major consumer services were household and business segments.  These two areas generated respectively 57% and 29.3% of total revenues.  Budget-dependent organizations accounted for 13.3% of telecom services rendered.  The volume of services provided to households increased 42.1% year-on-year and stood at RUR 220.4 million.

Over the reporting period 5,906 new city and rural telephone lines were entered into service.  Most of the new lines were commissioned in the city of Ulan Ude (4474 lines).  The number of rural telephone lines rose by 611 units.  This number was 125 units last year. The total  number of lines in service rose by 6.5% and reached 140,665.  Over the first nine months of 2002 the number of radio transmission points was down by 7,155 units.

Compared to year-earlier period the company's key performance indicators looked as follows: RPU stood at RUR 2,600 (up 20.7%), revenue per employee was 143,700 (up 36.2%), number of lines per employee was 51.9% (compared to 47.1 lines one year ago).  The average number of employees stood at 2,797.
