SUN Interbrew raises production capacities

SARANSK, October 21, 2004 - SUN Interbrew has announced that it is putting into operation five cylinder-conical tanks (CCTs) at its affiliate in Saransk (Republic of Mordovia).

The project to install the CCTs started in November 2003. After its completion in October 2004, the brewing capacity of Saransk Affiliate of JSC «SUN Interbrew» will increase by 40%. Total investments under the project amounted to almost ?4 million.

The equipment for the CCT department was manufactured, installed and assembled by the world-leading brewing-equipment manufacturer, Holvrieka, located in Belgium. By putting into operation the five cylinder-conical tanks, with a total volume of 20,000 hectoliters, the Saransk brewery will increase its production capacity, and will be able to implement an advanced brewing-fermentation technology, producing more beer, at reduced costs, with improved quality.

To participate in the official opening ceremony of the CCT department, John Brock, Chief Executive Officer of InBev, the world's premier brewing company, whose interests in Russia and Ukraine are represented by SUN Interbrew, has made the trip to Saransk. Following his meeting with Nikolay Merkushkin, Head of the Mordovian Republic, an agreement between SUN Interbrew and the Republic of Mordovia was signed concerning social and economic cooperation and development of beer and malt production in Mordovia. Announcing the CCT department opening, Mr. Brock noted, «SUN Interbrew has shown consistent, stable growth rates in the Russian beer market, and I am pleased to be here in Saransk to acknowledge the efforts of the many people who worked so hard to raise the company's production capacities in Mordovia. We consider the Saransk brewery to be a very important production site in the central part of Russia, and we consider our investments in the brewery to upgrade its production to be very worthwhile.»
