Moscow, 15 September 2003: The Board of Directors of Irkutsk Silicon, a subsidiary of SUAL Group, has resolved to appoint Eugeny Pologov Director General of the enterprise.
These changes follow successful completion of a development programme at Irkutsk Silicon. Over the past five years, the business has improved its production processes and quality. It has also strengthened its management team.
Eugeny Pologov stressed that, in line with the development strategy of silicon business of SUAL Holding, Irkutsk Silicon will continue with the modernisation of its production facilities, improve its operating efficiency further and support initiatives to increase its sales volume.
Eugeny Pologov was born in 1967. He graduated from the Urals State Technical University with a degree in management and economics. His prior appointment was Commercial Director of Ural Silicon. Eugeny is married with two sons.

Irkutsk Silicon was established by OAO SUAL in August 1998, having previously been a part of Irkutsk Aluminium. The core activity of the business is the production of crystalline silicon. Irkutsk Silicon produces approximately 30,000 tonnes of silicon annually and it is the leader in production volume and quality amongst Russian silicon producers. The quality control system at the enterprise is certified in compliance with ISO 9001:2000. Irkutsk Silicon produces for the domestic and export markets. In 2001, Irkutsk Silicon incorporated Cheremshansk Quartzite (The Republic of Buryatia) that develops the largest deposit of quartzite in Russia. Quartzite is the main raw material used in silicon production.
