Power Machines Group signed a Contract for Aswan HPP in Egypt

Russian machinery building company Power Machines Group in a consortium with Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation (Germany) and Hydro Plants Generation Company (Egypt) signed a Contract for reconstruction of Aswan High-Head Dam in Egypt.

Aswan High-Head Dam was constructed with the assistance of the former USSR in 60-ties – 70-ties. Twelve power units with the capacity 175 MW of each manufactured at Electrosila (member of Power Machines Group) have been successfully operating during 35 years.

As a result of the reconstruction a new technical resource of the Plant will be extended for another 30-40 years of operation, an annual power output might be increased from 2100 MW to 2400 MW.

The Project is financed by German bank Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau.

The term of execution of the Project makes 82 months. Every year there will be reconstructed two out of twelve hydro power units of Aswan HPP. The original manufacturer of the existing generators Electrosila as a member of Power Machines Group will carry out up to 60% of the works in the Project – manufacturing of the main equipment.

The signed contract is a significant event for Power Machines Group, it provided for trust to products of the Russian power machinery building industry and lead to great interest from the part of Egyptian Customer and World Financial Institutions.  This contract is a step forward made by the Russian company in Egypt.
