Sberbank of Russia

July 2, 2004

The BANKER: Sberbank remains the leading Russian Bank Internationally

Sberbank is the biggest bank of Central and Eastern Europe in the 2003 ranking of The Banker magazine (July 2004). According to the press-release of The Banker Russian banks dominate the Central & Eastern Europe listing accounting for 14 of the Top 25.
To provide for high rate of payments processed in fully automated mode (Straight-Through Processing, or STP) Sberbank must ensure faultless formatting of outgoing payments thus avoiding any additional operator intervention and associated penalty fees. The award is conferred in recognition of Sberbank's success in automated generation of outgoing and formatting of incoming messages.
The Banker also published Top 1000 world banks ranking for 2003. Sberbank comes 152nd in the list (up from 155th in 2002).
