The Head Office of Sberbank hosted a seminar for Sberbank’s correspondents from the neighbour countries. This seminar, attended by the representatives of over 60 credit institutions including leading banks from 12 countries (CIS, Baltic States and Bulgaria), was the first event that was arranged to familiarise non-resident correspondents with the entire range of Sberbank’s banking products, technologies and services and to discuss integration issues in the banking sector. Speaking at the seminar, Sberbank’s Deputy Chairman of the Board Alexander V. Zakharov stressed that most non-resident banks represented on the Russian market already have accounts with Sberbank and that they are heavily used in foreign trade turnover and for retail transfers. A bank of systemic importance, Sberbank contributes to the integration of the banking sector on the post-Soviet territory. The participants reviewed the current market status and discussed the practical aspects of correspondent relations development, arrangement of settlements, trade finance, specifics of the Russian law, taxation and other aspects of co-operation amongst the banks.
