Moscow, 30 December 2004 — RUSAL, one of the world’s leading aluminium companies, announced today the internal appointments of Pavel Ulianov as managing director responsible for corporate strategy and development and Andrei Donets as Mr. Ulianov’s successor as head of the aluminium can business.
Mr Ulianov has been employed by RUSAL since its founding in 2000 and before that he worked for its predecessor, Sibirsky Aluminium. This experience has equipped him with a thorough understanding of the Russian and global aluminium industries, and hands-on familiarity with the development of one of RUSAL’s key business segments — aluminium can production. In his new assignment Mr Ulianov will be responsible for strategic planning, defining the group’s priorities and needs for further development.
Mr Donets, who takes over the position of managing director, aluminium can business, is highly knowledgeable about the packaging industry and, particularly, about aluminium can production. His promotion marks a natural progression for his career at ROSTAR, a wholly-owned RUSAL subsidiary which is Russia’s largest aluminium beverage can producer.
Biographies
Pavel Ulianov
Born in 1972, Pavel Ulianov graduated in 1991 from the Federal Academy of Management. From 1991 to 1996, he worked at Toribank, advancing from manager to executive adviser. In 1996, Mr. Ulianov joined MDM Bank as Vice President.
Mr. Ulianov began his career in the aluminium industry in 1997 as President of ROSTAR Holding Company at Sibirsky Aluminium Group. From 2000 to 2004, he was responsible for the Aluminium Can Business of RUSAL.
Pavel Ulianov is married, with four children.
Andrei Donets
Born in 1962, Andrei Donets graduated from the First Moscow Medical Institute. Later he has received an MBA at the Plekhanov Russian Economics Academy. In 1998, as a participant in a state-supported Management Training program, patron of which was the President of Russia, Mr Donets interned at drinks and packaging plants in the USA.
Mr. Donets started his business career in 1993, occupying managing positions at various Russian companies, and became involved in the packaging industry in 1996. In 1998 he became Sales Director at ROSTAR company, aluminium can subsidiary of Sibirsky Aluminium Group. From 2000 to 2004, he was Deputy to the Managing Director, Aluminium Can Business, RUSAL, with responsibility for strategy development, sales and marketing. In December 2004, Mr. Donets was appointed Managing Director, Aluminium Can Business.
Andrei Donets is married, with two children.
