On October 4, 2005, the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian Federation, with the support of Rostelecom, held a conference “Development of multi-service networks for governmental needs”.
The Conference, presided by the Deputy Minister Boris Antonyuk, focused on construction of networks for governmental needs on the base of the dedicated digital telecommunications network.
Among the conference attendees there were Rostelecom’s General Director Dmitry Yerokhin, representatives of the Presidential Executive Office, different state bodies and agencies as well as a number of telecom operators.
Boris Antonyuk in his report “Requirements to the dedicated governmental communications network” underlined that to ensure the most effective work of all governmental users there must be created a unified digital network with high level of protection – on the base of domestic equipment and software.
Rostelecom’s General Director Dmitry Yerokhin commented: “For us, cooperation with security ministries and agencies is not only of honour, but also of great importance - the network for governmental needs is characterized by high requirements to accessibility, reliability and quality. I am confident, that Rostelecom and state authorities will further successfully cooperate on telecom projects of national scale.”
During the conference, the attendees discussed the concept of data transmission networks’ development as well as an action program concerning construction of the dedicated network for governmental needs.
