Moscow – April 23, 2008 – Rostelecom (NYSE: ROS; RTS, MICEX: RTKM, RTKMP), Russia’s national long-distance telecommunications operator, today announces that the Federal Arbitration court for the Moscow region has ruled on the appeal brought by the Federal Tax Service of Russia’s ? 7 Interregional Inspectorate for the Largest Taxpayers regarding the writ of the 9th Arbitration Court of Appeal and the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court on the case brought by Rostelecom to the Federal Tax Service of Russia’s ? 7 Interregional Inspectorate for the Largest Taxpayers regarding the improper claims for the fiscal year 2003 in the amount of 3.47 billion rubles.
According to the resolution of the Federal Arbitration Court of the Moscow region, the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court and the 9th Arbitration Court of Appeal regarding the settlement of Rostelecom’s claims has been set without change, while the appeal of the Federal Tax Service of Russia’s ? 7 Interregional Inspectorate for the Largest Taxpayers has been set without allowance.
