Rostelecom, Russia’s national long-distance telecommunications operator, has connected its points of presence in Frankfurt, Stockholm and London - the European main traffic exchange centers - through a high-speed ring channel provided by Interoute.
This dedicated fiber-optic line (of STM-16 throughput capacity) enables the Company to deliver services across a wider geographical footprint, through a back up system in Europe. This will not only help increase the volumes of international traffic on Rostelecom’s network, but also establish cooperation with new partners, including operators, internet providers and other providers of telecoms services.
In addition, Interoute’s infrastructure ensures connectivity of Rostelecom’s European network to its point of presence in New York through a transatlantic link.
Dmitry Yerokhin, General Director of Rostelecom, commented: “Our company, which owns and operates a nationwide backbone network, has strong international relationships. The launch of a high-speed ring channel in Europe to connect Rostelecom’s points of presence in the main traffic exchange centers will expand access to our network and strengthen the Company’s position in international markets, including the Europe-Asia transit market.”
We are honored that Rostelecom has entrusted its international connectivity to Interoute, joining a group of other world-class providers who rely on us to provide the most extensive and advanced network across Europe. Owning the network means that we can offer cost-effective solutions and world-class technical support. We believe that Interoute will be able to satisfy any Rostelecoms needs to expand both geographically as well as in terms of capacity, says James Kinsella, Interoute’s Executive Chairman and CEO.
