As part of the XXIV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Rosneft and SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions SA signed an agreement on collaboration in the field of wastewater treatment and reuse technologies.
The agreement assumes integrated cooperation between the parties for development of wastewater treatment and water reuse technologies including review of the prospects of development of basic engineering solutions for the water consumption and disposal as well as handling of waste. The parties also intend to hold workshops and meetings to share experience and develop technical and technological competences.
Also, this agreement makes it possible to run pilot tests of water treatment systems for oil refining and petrochemical assets. The technical solutions will aim at improvement of performance of treatment facilities and maximum increase of the volume of reused water. This will improve the quality of treated wastewater and will make it meet the standards sufficient for discharge to fishery waters.
In the commentary on signing of this agreement, Andrey Shishkin, the Vice-President for Informatization, Innovation, and Localization of Rosneft said: “Minimizing the impact on the environment is one of the key priorities of Rosneft business. Being the largest producer of hydrocarbons in the world, we understand major responsibility to follow sustainable development principles and focus on rational use of water. We are happy to unite the efforts, experience and expertise with SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions SA, and to develop and use the cutting edge technologies to preserve water resources”.
