Engine room simulator “TRANSAS ERS 4000” was installed in the Training Center of the Primorsk Shipping Corporation where Ship’s Engineers will be trained to operate electric power plant and engine crew will be trained before voyage. Up-to-date simulator bought for 112,000 USD allows to simulate in details control procedures of main engine, auxiliary equipment and systems, train watch keeping in engine room in accordance with up-to-date technologies. Sergey Vikharev, Head of Training Center informed that it is planned to combine Engine Room Simulator with the existent Navigation Simulator imitating bridge into one unit. It will enable to train crews to control vessel both in normal and emergency situations. Primorsk Shipping Corporation is one of few private companies in Russia which keeps Training Center at its own expense. Recently PRISCO Training Center has been generally repaired and now it accommodates Marine Board of Experts of Nakhodka port which allows seafarers to confirm their professional qualification and get all kinds of marine diplomas without leaving their native town.
