The new site of the cable line of 120 meters will be made with the help the closed trenchless method at one meter depth.

Considerably warm December days helped “Pskovennergo” branch of IDGC of North-West to start the substitution of the worn out cable line of 6 kV directly under the Lovat river-bed level in Velikie Luki (Pskov Region). The new site of 120 meters cable line is made with the help of  the closed trenchless method at one meter depth and does not present danger to the underwater fauna.

The necessity of substitution of the given site of the line form substation No.130 “Ryabiki” (cable line 130-09) was determined by the wear out of the protection cover of the cable and the lack of the necessary operation characteristics.  At present  time the power supply of the consumers of this line, including the dwelling houses located in the streets of 3rd Udarnoy Armii, Gastello, Poligrafistov, Polovskoy, Botvina and Kholmskoy, piping station, school No.10, printing house, “Mikron” and “TEN” factories  as well as one of the sites of “Reostat” is carried out in accordance with the reserves scheme.

According to Arkadiy Borkov, Chief Engineer of the Southern electric grids of “Pskovenergo”, the works are carried out with the help of the contractors. It is connected with the fact that the laying of the power cable through the water barrier is the difficult and unique engineering process requiring the user of the special equipment.  

In particular, the power company does not have the opportunity to drill in horizontal direction with help of which one can with the maximum precision to carry out the so called puncture hole of the earth for further installation of the necessary communication.

In the second half of December power engineers plan to completely finish the works directed to the substitution of the power cable.
