RAO UES of Russia and Administration of the Murmansk area have signed the agreement on interaction for development of the electric power industry in the region

The transformer substations by the total capacity of 1 286 MVA and 401 km of electricity transmission lines will be introduced in the distribution complex.

Yury Evdokimov, Governor of the Murmansk area, and Anatoly Chubais, Chairman of the Management Board of RAO UES of Russia, have signed the agreement on interaction for development of electric power industry of the Murmansk area.

It is supposed that the total amount of investment in the power industry of the region will exceed 64.7 billion rubles, the amount of 46.2 billion rubles of this sum will be directed to development of generation, and 18.5 billion rubles will be invested in the grid facilities (transmission and distribution networks).

The transformer substations by the total capacity of 1 286 MVA and 401 km of electricity transmission lines will be introduced in the distribution complex.

Yury Evdokimov commented on the expected results of the agreement execution. 'Two hundred and seventy two kilometers of new transmission grids will solve many problems. Two new substations, to be exact, switching centres in Murmashi and Monchegorsk are, perhaps, of the most importance. Moreover, three power units in Murmansk will be put into operation, which form a new coal burning thermal power station. All this will not only allow to settle many problems in the power of the region, but also will allow to decrease tariffs for the population'.
