Novolipetsk Steel has commissioned its 3.7 mln tpa Sinter Machine No.3 after an overhaul. The upgrade will enable the company to increase blast furnace raw materials production by 75,000 tpa.
The machine’s capacity was increased due to the modification of the iron ore raw materials charging system, the installation of additional equipment and the extension of its operating area. The revamp resulted in accelerating the sintering process, improving sinter quality and lowering environmental impact.
The project was implemented as part of Phase 2 of NLMK’s Technical Upgrade Program (2007-2011). This is the fourth and last machine at the sinter plant to have its iron ore materials charging system upgraded.
For reference:
The main objectives of Phase2 of NLMK’s Technical Upgrade Program for 2007-2011 are to increase crude steel output from 9 to 12.4 m tpa, achieve 100% self-sufficiency in main raw materials supply and increase finished flats output from 5 to 9.5 m tpa.
