AO MOSENERGO has been long known as one of few Russian companies having special approach to staff training. The company’s colleges—Moscow Technical College (MTK) and Moscow Center for Training in New Specialties (MTsPK)—train highly educated personnel who can work in the future at AO MOSENERGO’s facilities. MTK trains future mid-level specialists for electric and heat companies. Many graduates from this college then continue their education at such institutes like MEI.

MTsPK educate specialists in every specialty of electric and heat power sector who later come to work at AO MOSENERGO. MTsPK has departments for heat power equipment, electric power equipment, operative dispatch equipment, computers, software, etc. From 2001, AO MOSENERGO regularly holds education campaigns in Moscow schools arranging so-called “open door days,” trips to AO MOSENERGO’s energy facilities, competitions for the best picture or essay on power themes for pupils from secondary schools.

In addition to a fundamental approach to the staff training, AO MOSENERGO developed a number of special projects. For example, the company offered grants to a number of young lecturers at MEI, aiming to support and encourage the faculty of power departments. In addition, in 2002, AO MOSENERGO opened MEI’s department a at TEZ-27, which gave MEI’s students the opportunity to get training at the most advanced electric power station of the Moscow region. Another project sponsored by AO MOSENERGO is a training course for journalists who specialize on energy issues. In 2002, the special course was conducted on the premises of the Journalist Department of the Moscow Lomonosov State University.

In the future, AO MOSENERGO intends to develop its own educational programs and continue its support for students and faculty specializing in the Russian energy sector.
