A solemn ceremony was held in the Kaluga region on the occasion of the transfer to the full capacity of the 220 kV voltage type Constellation substation of the ROSSETI group of companies. The event was attended by Pavel Livinsky, the head of the energy holding, Anatoly Artamonov, Governor of Kaluga region, and Igor Makovsky, General Director of the Center IDGC, the ROSSETI's subsidiary company, which is the sole executive body of IDGC of the Center and Volga Region.
The Constellation substation is one of the most advanced power facilities nationwide, with additional telecommunications installed, which provide full observability of power equipment, state-of-the-art relay protection and automation systems, while the internal networks being interconnected with electrical power system control centers of respective levels using digital protocols. The substation automation level allows not only monitor, but also manage the power facility from control centers.
“Today we witness another step of the ROSSETI group on the path of digital transformation of the electric grid complex and increasing the reliability of electricity supply to industrial consumers of the Kaluga region, among whom 39 residents of the Vorsino industrial park, and the Freight Village Vorsino large railway terminal are, which is a part of the New Silk Road between Beijing and Berlin. On top of that, the possibility of connecting residents of future residential areas in the region's northern part is provided. Our efforts to develop the region’s energy system enable us to expand production, create hundreds of new jobs and improve the quality of life of ordinary citizens,” Pavel Livinskiy said during his speech.
“It is very important for us that the commissioning of the Constellation substation, which is of special technological, economic and social significance for the Kaluga region, takes place on the eve of our professional holiday: the Power Man Day," Igor Makovsky said in his welcoming speech. "The digital technologies applied on the Constellation substation ensure high quality of consumers' power supply and efficiency of process control.”
The Constellation substation has installed capacity of 500 MVA, which provides the necessary amount of electrical power for residents of the Vorsino industrial park, including enterprises of world famous brands such as Oriflame, AstraZeneca, Total, Omya Ural, as well as Kaluga Region Development Corporation and Kaluga Special Economic Zone. Besides, the power facility provides transit flows and participates in the formation of inter-regional energy links between Kaluga and Moscow regions.
