Moscow, November 16, 2005. OJSC CenterTelecom completed construction of yet another fiber-optic communication link in the Orel Region. The Orel Branch of the Company constructed a fiber-optic “ring” comprising Orel – Zmievka – Pokrovskoye – Livny – Verkhovie – Zalegoshch – Novosil – Mtsensk – Bolkhov – Orel.
Construction of intra-zone fiber-optic links started in 1996. In the same year the Company commissioned the first Orel - Zmievka section of the fiber-optic communication link. The next stage was to construct a fiber-optic communication link connecting Zmievka – Pokrovskoye – Livny, which, once commissioned, marked the completion of the intra-zone fiber-optic communication link Orel – Zmievka – Pokrovskoye – Droskovo – Livny with a length of 163.5 km. In 2003 fiber-optic links simultaneously covered three districts of the Orel Region: Khotynets – Shablykino – Soskovo. In 2004 the Company commissioned a fiber-optic link Livny – Verkhovie – Zalegoshch – Novosil – Mtsensk with a length of 153 km, and in November 2005 it completed the fiber-optic "ring": by commissioning the last section Orel - Bolkhov - Mtsensk with a length of 112 km.
The intra-zone fiber-optic communication link based on the SDH technology will improve the quality of connection, enhance the data transmission speed and reliability and allow subscribers to get connected to other places in the Orel Region faster.
