Tula, November 3, 2004. CenterTelecom Tula branch commissioned a broadband multiservice network. xDSL access equipment and network management systems trial have been finalized in the cities of Tula, Novomoskovsk and Schekino. The testing results have confirmed the equipment’s compliance with the world standards. Specialists believe that the capacity of the new multiservice network will allow to support up to 1 500 users in 2005.
The introduction of the broadband multiservice network was carried out in several stages. The digital intraregional primary network built in 1996 was used as the basis for the information transport network. In 1998 ATM and FR-based multiprotocol network was commissioned with the application of SDH data technology. It became the basis for not only internal corporate, but commercial projects as well. In 2003 Tula communication providers offered its clients DSL on-line Internet access service based on IolaPLN equipment. Simultaneously with that the company conducted extensive preparation activities to introduce the broadband multiservice network ranging from technical operations and development of tariffs to marketing research to determine individual solutions for each client.
One of the important strategic advantages of the new technology in the competitive environment is the ability to provide inexpensive high-speed digital channels for subscribers through the common copper pairs. This has enabled all citizens of the regional center as well as the cities of Novomoskovsk and Schekino with telephone access to take advantage of the multiservice network services.
