Intensive restoration work to eliminate the consequences of the fire broke out on the night of 14-15 February inst. was continued throughout 18 February 2003 in the Telephone Exchange building of the Zamoskvoretskiy Telephone Node, component structure of the Moscow City Telephone Network.

The restoration work is carried out by the repair crews of the Zamoskvoretskiy Telephone Node and other telephone nodes of the Company on a twenty-four hours' basis.

As at 07:00 a.m. of 18 February inst., the fire debris clearing at the premises of Exchange 971 where Five Thousand (5 000) telephone numbers were rendered inoperative, was completed.

At Telephone Exchange 284, where Three Thousand (3 000) numbers went out of order the equipment was completely cleaned of the fire soot and fully diagnosed. According to the experts' conclusion, the equipment for the 3 000 telephone numbers is found irreparable.

As at 12:00 of 18 February, a small capacity telephone exchange of 3 000 numbers was brought into Telephone Office 284. The mounting of the equipment will start in the afternoon of 18 February.

Likewise, during 18 February, equipment adjustment at Telephone Exchange 971 will be also continued. It is supposed that the Exchange will have been entirely restored by Friday, 21 February. By the evening of 18 February, interconnection of some 500 residential subscribers is expected to be made.

In Schepkin Street and its neighborhood, the PJSC MGTS-installed free mobile public call offices continue to operate round-the-clock. Besides, 100 public payphones stationed in the afflicted locality, which are within the coverage of the Zamoskvoretskiy Telephone Node, have still been functioning in a free-call mode.

Also, by instructions of the PJSC MGTS leadership, a small-capacity electronic Telephone Exchange of 800 numbers was promptly mounted, which provides service to the community social institutions, i.e. hospitals, policlinics, kindergartens, etc. The list of such institutions, which are standing in dire need of being furnished with telephone communication, is agreed upon with the responsible prefecture of the Moscow Central Administrative District.
