On February 1, 2005, Moscow City Telephone Network is starting to transfer over 60 000 subscribers of Ostankino telephone node from analog switching systems to digital ones.
Six switching systems with pools starting with 282, 283, 285, 286, 287, and 289 are subject to switching. Their subscribers will have their numbers changed partially or completely:
- 285 and 289 will be changed to 685 and 689, respectively;
- 282 will be changed to 682 and 602;
- 283 will be changed to 683 and 602;
- 286 will be changed to 686 and 602;
- 287 will be changed to 687.
Some of the subscribers of 282, 283, 286 and 287 switching systems in addition to the first three numbers will have the remaining four numbers also changed.
"The complete number change is mainly explained by the technical requirement of de-coupling the lines", said the head of Ostankino telephone node Sergey Polischuk.
As it was reported earlier, as six switching systems are being replaced at Ostankino node, 16 000 coupled lines will be liquidated.
All subscribers have been notified about the switchover to the new digital equipment and the change of numeration in written form. In addition, five days prior to the switchover an automatic caller will notify each client over the telephone.
Subscribers can place information about the number change with 09 phone directory service by contacting Ostankino node.
