Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) took first place among Russian producers of flat products, as well galvanised and coated steel, in the rating of leading manufacturers and suppliers of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy in the second half of 2018.

The rating will be published in the next issue of the influential industry magazine Metal Supply and Sales. MMK once again took first place among the Russian producers of flat products, thanks to the modern high-performance rolling mills built at the plant over the last decade and focused on the production of high-quality flat products in high-margin segments.

Among these units - a unit for the production of thick plate (Mill 5000), designed for the production of steel products for manufacturers of large diameter pipes and for shipbuilding and bridge construction, as well as the latest cold-rolling unit (Mill 2000) for the production of high-quality auto flat and cold-rolled galvanised steel for the construction industry, and for manufacturers of household appliances.

The Company also continues to hold first place in the section of the rating dedicated to producers of galvanised and coated metal. Currently, MMK has three continuous hot-dip galvanising lines (CGL) and two polymer coating units. In addition, as part of construction of the second stage of the new cold-rolling unit, sheet-rolling shop No.11 was commissioned in the CGL as well as a combined unit for continuous annealing/hot galvanising. MMK Group is consistently expanding the range of manufactured steel products, thanks in part to the use of MMK Lysva Metallurgical Plant's equipment to produce electro-galvanised rolled products and premium products with a polymer coating, produced under the SteelArt and Moire brands. The unique polymer Steel Art, produced by Print technology, has recently been highly rated by the jury of the Priority 2018national award in the field of import substitution, which recognised MMK as the leader in the Metallurgy category.

In addition, two more companies from MMK Group were included in the rating by Metal Supply and Sales magazine for the second half of 2018. Magnitogorsk Metalware and Calibration Plant MMK-Metiz entered the top three manufacturers of metalware products, and MMK Trading House for the first time rose to second place in the list of the best trading houses of steel mills.

The rating of leading manufacturers and suppliers of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy in the second half of 2018 is based on questionnaires received from buyers of steel products, the results of a survey of metal market experts, as well as a comprehensive analysis of the companies' activities. The following criteria were taken into account when determining the best companies: business dynamism, supply volume, level of service, product quality, reliability of the supplier in terms of performance of contractual obligations and openness in providing information.
