LOMO PLC has designed a new night vision device, in which the most up-to-date digital technologies were used. Petersburg opticians called their scope as “Pirania”.
In spite of such terrible name, the device looks quite inoffensively. The idea of creating of this compact and light pseudo binocular was born approximately one and half a year ago. The main difference from its predecessor is usage of CCD-camera instead of electronic optical converter. It allowed diminishing the weight of «Pirania» and making it much more compact in comparison with the majority of such devices. It’s possible to carry the device on head enough time, not be tired and having hands free – an invaluable advantage for all people, who have to use night vision devices at work or at hobby.
Thanks to wonderful optics “Pirania” also distinguishes by high specifications, not yielding to many night vision devices, made on the basis of electronic optical converters. The instrument allows observing all objects at the distance of 150-200 m late in the night. As far as LOMO specialists know there is no analogous of “Pirania” at the world market of night vision devices, intended for civic purposes.
Today the model samples of the device are made at the firm, which in the nearest future will pass through necessary cycle of tests. At the same time marketing services of the enterprise carry out surveys, which will help to define exactly the perspectives of “Pirania” at the market. But already today it is possible to say with sure, that future belongs to such instruments and we wish the exotic “fish” of LOMO the great and successful swimming.
