Within the framework of the priority national program "Education" and implementation of the state project «Provision of the Internet access to educational institutions of the Russian Federation» the Northern Ossetian branch of "UTK" PJSC connected 101 schools of the Republic to the Internet as at 24 November 2006, 54 of them located in Vladikavkaz, the administrative center of the republic, 7 – in Pravoberezhny region, 8 – in Mozdoksky region, 4 – in Alagirsky region, 3 – in Ardonsky region, 5 – in Kirovsky region, 3 – in Irafsky region, 3 – in Digorsky region and 11- in Prigorodny region.

By the end of the year the branch plans to provide Internet access to 149 schools and to 61 schools more in 2007.

The experts of the Northern Ossetian branch of "UTK" PJSC have to solve serious technical problems, especially in rural and mountain areas. At present technicians of  the business development department of the branch and workers of regional communication centers install broadband access equipment in 40 rural automatic telephone exchanges.

Schoolchildren in high-mountain village Verkhniy Fiagdon of the Alagirsky region have already been provided with access  to the global network. Soon Buronskaya and Mizurskaya schools in the same region will be connected to the Internet.
