COMSTAR-UTS will provide telecommunication services in Sheremetyevo-3

25 July, 2008, Moscow: COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (COMSTAR-UTS JSC, LSE: CMST), the leading provider of integrated telecommunication services in Russia and the CIS, announced that it had become a preferred bidder in the tender for provision of telecommunication services in a new terminal city, Terminal 3 of the Sheremetyevo airport.

The tender has been arranged by Terminal JSC and Aeroflot JSC that are completing construction of a new terminal city, Sheremetyevo-3.

According to the tender results, COMSTAR-UTS has won a contract with Terminal for telecommunication networking and communication services in the terminal.

COMSTAR-UTS will provide traditional and packet-based voice (VoIP), data, leased-line and high-speed Internet services in Terminal 3. Besides, the operator will deploy virtual private networks (VPN) and provide services of cable and IP TV (including HDTV). COMSTAR-UTS will offer its coin and Wi-Fi-based services to visitors of Terminal 3. The operator will also provide a wide range of value-added services, including video conferencing, operator services and many more.

Dmitry Dronov, Director of the Moscow region branch of COMSTAR-UTS, said, "COMSTAR-UTS has been co-operating with Aeroflot and rendering services in Sheremetyevo for several years now. In the new air terminal we will provide the whole range of telecommunication services and solutions that meet the strict requirements to an operation of a modern airport."

Oleg Domrachev, Director for Information Technologies of Terminal JSC, said, "Our co-operation with COMSTAR-UTS will be based on a concession principle. We selected this company for its high-quality service, transparent accountability, developed network within Sheremetyevo, and the widest possible range of telecommunication services. This new terminal city will become the most advanced in Russia, and we are very interested in attracting the most advanced companies as our partners."

To provide the whole range of services in Terminal 3, COMSTAR-UTS is going to lay fiber optical cable with independent air terminal access points. This will ensure high quality of communication and enable an increased volume and enhanced range of services.
Under the project, COMSTAR-UTS intends to deploy a Wi-Fi network over the Terminal 3 territory. Internet access will be paid with prepaid cards of COMSTAR-UTS. Besides, subscribers of Mobile TeleSystems JSC already have an opportunity of SMS authorization to get logins and passwords for Wi-Fi network access. Similar roaming agreements are planned to be entered with all leading mobile operators.
Under the project, COMSTAR-UTS will also install at least 26 up-to-date coin-box telephones, including devices with Internet connection.

COMSTAR-UTS and its affiliate, PortTelecom, have been providing a whole range of communication services in Sheremetyevo since 1994. Seamless communication is ensured by the own high-speed communication network in Sheremetyevo that is connected to COMSTAR-UTS' Moscow network by two independent optical channels.
