In August, 10 – 16, KAMAZ –Master team took part in the regular lap of the World Cup 2003 – “Rally Orient– Kappadokia 2003”. More than 50 motorcyclists, small cars and truck crews participated in this rally.
The rally was held in the central part of Turkey – in Kappadokia, the region famous for its picturesque landscape. Huge tumble of rocks, splitted with gorgeous canyons is a pleasure for the eyes of a traveler, but extremely mad maze for a race-driver, that was the main road menu of “Rally Orient – Kappadokia 2003”.
KAMAZ – Master team has sent two military trucks KamAZ – 4911 to rally, which were escorted by emergency service vehicle. The navigator Sergey Savostin and the mechanic Jamil Kamalov assisted to the well - known pilot Vladimir Chaghin. The second crew with navigator Aidar Belyaev and mechanic Adrei Mokeev was headed by the pilot Ilghizar Mardeev. In emergency service vehicle crew were Nail Bagavetdinov, Ildar Shaisultanov and Gennady Ivanov. Three French crews on MANN, UNIMOG and RENAULT rally trucks, headed by famous pilots Philippe JAQUOT, Daniel PRUNIER and Jean Pierre LAPERT, and also SCAM SMT piloting by German Gerhard WALCHER competed with them.
“Rally Orient – Kappadokia 2003” consisted of 6 laps with total extension of more than 3000 km, more than 1400 of which were high speed areas. The route had the pattern of a flower: 6 days – 6 petals of the route with the start and finish almost in one point.
“The main goal of KAMAZ –Master team in “Rally Orient”, - said the head of the team Semyon Yakubov before the start, - is to conduct a wide trial complex of separate components, new technical developments, which were provided for the sport truck of the last generation KAMAZ – 4911, with the aim to be ready for the main rally – super marathon “ Paris –Dakar 2004”. It is the most important part of the team’s activity to polish up the rally trucks and prepare them for the most fierce fight in Dakar rally with the elite of marathons .Concerning the sport part, the participation of Vladimir Chaghin in orient rally means a lot: we are ready to fight with any titled rally participant, having traditionally shown all best sport characteristics of the team and its best representatives”
