On June 16, KAMAZ-Metallurgy Inc. started deliveries of its export products to European countries by KAMAZ-5460 prime movers, owned by KAMAtransservice Ltd., the subsidiary of KAMAZ Inc.
Two powerful prime movers will deliver castings for brake drums (22t with three-axle trailer and 21t with two-axle trailer) to Immenhausen in Germany to IAT Company, which produces units for MAN, Volvo, Iveco and other vehicles.
As Sergey Andreev, Commercial Director of KAMAZ-Metallugry, says, “… long-distance international haulage on KAMAZ trucks is reducing significantly execution time of orders set by our foreign partners: now it takes only 4-5 days to cover about 3 600 km, cross 3 border lines and perform paper formalities. Besides, delivery by trucks helps to reduce transportation cost significantly. Since 1993 KAMAZ-Metallurgy Inc. has been out of this business as in Europe then there were introduced strict restrictions applied to design, technical and environmental characteristics of heavy-duty vehicles. This is why it had to use services of the third-party transport agencies, operating western manufactured vehicle. Now KAMAZ has eliminated this problem as its KAMAZ-5460 haulage truck is certified in accordance with the European standards and can run into any country. Not only KAMAZ Inc. itself can benefit from this but Russian business in general.
“It’s important for us that we’re creating a good image of our company by promoting our product with the help of our truck”, said Sergey Andreev. It is remarkable that these prime movers, designed for international haulage, are powered with 360 h.p. KAMAZ engines that comply with a EURO-2 emission level. So far, there have been used CUMMINS engines for European haulage.
Since now on, such deliveries of KAMAZ-Metallurgy products on KAMAZ trucks to Europe will become regular. Each month it will be necessary to run at least 15 times to supply foreign customers with castings and forgings on time. Moreover, as KAMAZ Inc is a member of Association of International Automobile Transporters (AIAT), its vehicles on their way back will not run empty - each of them will bring goods to Russia in accordance with orders from AIAT. One such run to Europe by own vehicle earns
