Participants of the international test run have reached Lisbon and on 24 May have officially started the run. This festive start was attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy in Portugal and Department of Transportations of the both countries. The occasion coincided with the 30th anniversary of restoring of cooperation between Russia and Portugal.
The Russian crew is driving KAMAZ-5460003 truck. Leonid Ozhegov, heading this test run, comments: Today is 31 May, we are in Germany. It’s a holiday, so all autobahns are closed, they will be opened only at midnight. We are on our way to Berlin, where from we shall take a start to Poland and then further to Kaliningrad. So far, there were no major failures of the vehicle. We are the second in the column. Everything is all right. In Lisbon we gave a lot of interviews. From Moscow we brought a bronze statute of a Russian troika (three horses) and presented it to the President of the Intentional Union of Automobile Transporters MCAT/IRU. It is rather stressful for us to drive on European roads, as we usually don’t drive such long vehicles at high speed in Russia. During the test run there have been found a few weak points of the truck, e.g.: some vehicle units are getting hot. But in general everything is normal.
It is expected that on 6-7 June the train from trucks will enter Kalinigrad, Russia.
