The KAMAZ crew, headed by Ilghizar Mardeev, won the fourth lap of “Rally Orient”. 2 minutes and 42 seconds ceded the leader of the race Vladimir Chaghin to him in the extremely tense sport fight with the rivals and road conditions.
Not in vain KAMAZ – 4911,the off-road extremer, was called “the flying” truck at the First International Presentation of technical and operational functionalities, at the IDEX exhibition in UAE in April. But that was the demonstration, adjusted and prepared. So, the practice, as on rally-raids, spontaneous and unexpected, looks much more convincing. The triumph of Vladimir Chaghin at the speed section of the third lap was met by numerous raptures in journalists’ reports. Experienced sport media knows the price of such facts. It’s a pity that the rivals of the KAMAZ truck are not able to show similar automobile balancing act. It would be useful, to compare the reliability of the truck, of its suspensions, in particular. But fact will be fact: the construction of KAMAZ – 4911, its separate systems, blocks and aggregates stands multi, the most acute tests with super overloads. Tests of “Rally Orient – Kappadokia 2003”, which every day is closer to finish. The fourth lap is not an exception.
“Today, - commented the results of the race Ilghizar Mardeev, - the organizers prepared one more surprise. We were driven in such mountains, that we were forced almost to grope our way: it was not the road, but a kind of goats’ path, over which the pines’ branches were hanging. Pits, stones, branches – all that fall to the trucks lot. Any unnecessary movement and we cold be in trouble”. “And so about 200 km of high speed area out of 253 km,- added Vladimir Chaghin. The branches were not only thick, but also dry; some fir-needle and also several branches got into the engine compartment and flashed. We extinguished the fire quickly, but the gas cable burned out even at this short time. It took about 15 minutes to change it. And at the same time Jacquot on MANN overtook us. He persuaded us all the time.”
Having changed the cable, both KAMAZ trucks took the course to the finish, and were the first who crossed the line, first the truck of Mardeev, then Chaghin’s. There was no truck of Philippe Jacquot at finish! As it turned out, the Frenchman was so excited by the picture of the steaming KAMAZ and the opportunity to win, that in haste he lost his way. There wasn’t any information about him by 7p.m. yet. The crew of Vladimir Chaghin kept on leading the race among the trucks after 4 laps of “Rally Orient – Kappadokia 2003”. KamAZ, piloting by Ilghizar Mardeev, was on the second position, having shortened the time lag after the victory in the 4th lap up to 45 minutes 32 seconds. What concerns the rivals of KamAZ trucks, it was to be clarified, when MANN of Philippe Jacquot would appear.
