At the “Most Socially Effective Russian Organisations” awards ceremony, which was held in Moscow on March 16, MMC Norilsk Nickel was announced the winner in one of the six main categories, “Personnel Development”. In addition to MMC Norilsk Nickel, more than 150 other Russian companies took part in this category.
The winners were decided by the Competition Commission made up of representatives from the Russian Federal Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, The Ministry of Health and Social Development and other governmental organisations, along with the Russian Employers’ Association and trade unions.
The “Most Socially Effective Russian Organisations” competition has been organised at the behest of the Government of the Russian Federation since 1999, with the aims of focussing attention on the social issues in institutions and organisations, promoting the best organisations (the winners of the competition) as examples of the effectiveness of this kind of work, and promulgating and encouraging positive activity in this area.
“This competition is a very significant event, not only for the individual enterprises themselves, but for Russia as a whole. The awards are a way for the government and society to show their appreciation of the successful operations of both a given company and the people who make up its workforce,” says Olga Golodets, MMC Norilsk Nickel’s Deputy General Director for Personnel and Social Policies. “This year, MMC Norilsk Nickel took part in the competition in the “Development of Personnel” category, and by doing this, the company wanted to make the point that the professional and social development of personnel is the very foundation of MMC Norilsk Nickel’s future, and of the future of society as a whole.”
