Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman has appointed Sergey Mikhailenko as General Director of Astrakhangazprom Ltd.

Born in 1958 in the town of Abdulino of the Orenburg region, S. Mikhailenko graduated in 1980 from the I.M. Gubkin Moscow Petrochemical and Gas Industry Institute, getting specialty in the Technology and Comprehensive Mechanization for the Oil and Gas Fields Development.

S. Mikhailenko started his gas industry career as oil and gas production operator with the Kaliningradmorneftegazprom Scientific Production Association under the USSR Gas Industry Ministry.

Starting 1984, S. Mikhailenko had worked for Orenburggazprom. Between 1997 and 2003, he was Head of the Production Section for Gas Extraction, Transmission and Processing with the Orenburggazprom subsidiary subsequently reincorporated as Orenburggazprom Ltd. In 2003, S. Mikhailenko was named as Chief Engineer – Deputy Director General of Orenburggazprom.

Vitaly Zakharov, previously acting as Astrakhangazprom’s Director General, was removed from office due to his employment contract expiration.
